Dubai Getaway

Hello reader! On Monday, my mom decided to take me and my sister on a special trip to Dubai just for the three of us. I was feeling a little down in the dumps the day before so it was the perfect way to say hakuna matata and unwind. For this post, I’m gonna let the pictures speak for themselves. We stayed at the Address Hotel that was connected to The Dubai Mall (mega-yay!) and enjoyed great food from The Cheesecake Factory and Aprons & Hammers :D I also may have shopped till I dropped. A boat ride in The Dubai Dancing Fountain was also included, and the weather was amazing ;) Even though our hotel room’s view wasn’t the best, we had breakfast at iHop next to Burj Khalifa to make up for it! On the second day we went to Social House and I got to drink this super yummy Berry Yoghurt smoothie that I am craving right now <3

I will try to make my own berry smoothie at home :’) If it’s any good, I’ll share the recipe!

Definitely recommend The Address Hotel or any hotel joined to malls in Dubai (-Kempinski) because they’re seriously the best! Breakfast, lunch and dinner guaranteed at the best restaurants! Thanks for reading guys and I’ll post a new Monthly Finds update soon!

All about Crafts!

So my sister suddenly decides to start scrap-booking, and being the perfectionist she is, she looks for crafts stores in Abu Dhabi (Other than Jareer Bookstore)  and asks for my artistic help! :) Now if it were anything else, I wouldn’t have been too keen about it, but when it comes to artsy crafty stuff, always count me in.

So we set off on our artventure. See what I did there? ;P No but seriously, we had a tough time going out and about looking for trinkets and supplies, but oh how much it was worth every minute of our time!

Our first destination was Crafts Corner, a place literally built specially for scrap-booking! Look at this piece of work :)

And this is the back room!

Honestly we found so many cute things from mini frames and decorated paper and paint and glitter and those 3D objects/flowers you can use for all your scrap-booking needs! You can also find normal art supplies, I got this really pretty gold acrylic paint and a small bottle of some pearl glue that works like a glitter glue. Squeeze, and you have a pearl! Will blog more about those next time.
And the lady that worked there was so sweet she even gave us a special tip about scrap-booking. How many times have you looked at a decorated piece of tissue and loved it’s design? I have, and I’m not kidding xD Now you can easily put it to use (other than blow your nose in it).  Just iron it on a piece of “Freezer Paper” and once it sticks, use it however you like :> Make a card for someone or use it as scrap-booking paper, you come up with the ideas! Neat, eh? They provide classes for such things as well!

*Check the store timings because it closes kinda early :) 8:00 PM on normal days and 2:30 PM in Ramadan*

The next place was L’Atelier des Arts! Name kinda hard to pronounce if you haven’t taken French but trust me, the place makes up for the tongue twists :P Sorry about the low-resolution there, click on the image to view it better!

Much bigger than Crafts corner since its not only specialized in scrap-booking but houses all of your art needs. I hadn’t known this place until a day ago and let me tell you, it’s my sanctuary right now. They provide Copic Markers and Polymer Clay (Which is very hard to find here) and many many beautiful types of paint and varnishes etc. It is however, a little expensive, so unless you can’t find the items for cheaper prices somewhere else, it’s the place for you. Oh and they also provide art classes, so if you’re interested, contact them :D In fact, one was going on in the middle of our fits of excitement, and we might have disturbed them xP

I had such a great time that day and I’m definitely planning on paying both shops many many visits in the future! What other art/crafts stores do you know of? Share them below!

Thanks for reading,

A New Chapter!

Hey everyone! It’s been a very long time since my last post, but I am back and better than ever with a newly designed website and domain name! I hope you guys like it :)

So what have I been up to these last few months? A great deal of things! Starting off with my long-awaited high-school graduation, and the three months full of free time I have ahead of me! The ceremony and everything that came with it was so spectacular that I just enjoy playing it back in my head!

Every year I’ve seen seniors come and go, taking their gown measurements, have a farewell party thrown for them and those beautiful days where they finish all their schoolwork and get to spend some relaxing time vacationing in their early Summer. And every year I’d feel so bummed out that I wouldn’t get to do those things for quite a while until it was actually my turn! Honestly, I’m glad I cherished every moment, from the day we took our gown measurements (Yeah, it is kind of a huge deal for me xD) to the day I stood in front of hundreds of people who watched me take my diploma that gets me out of school forever. And on that topic, I’m still not feeling sad or emotional about leaving. Being separated from my friends, yes, but not the actual school environment, not just yet. Although I can totally picture myself hating on University and wishing for one more day at school. Typical :P

Right now, I’m excited and elated to having finally finished those years studying my butt off about things I most likely won’t even use or benefit from. I feel like I have the time and energy to do anything I want and start whatever project I wish. Writing this actually motivated me into finishing up my novel (or maybe even write up a brand new one from scratch). One thing I do hope I’ll still practice is my art, and avoid procrastination, since I am planning on studying Visual Arts in Zayed University, and pursue a minor in Curatorial Studies. Then off to the museums I go! Future plans in another post InshAllah.

On another note, to add to the excitement of freedom, I chopped off my long locks a week ago and dyed it red. How’s that for a badass?
Thanks for reading my first blog post on the new blog! Have a lovely weekend :)
